Advisory Council Welcomes New Team Member!

Judit Lovas, Policy and Research Analyst


Judit holds a J.D degree in Political Science and Jurisprudence from University of Debrecen School of Law, Hungary, and is currently a student at MUN where she is finishing a Master’s degree in Gender Studies. Her research interest includes human rights, women’s rights, gender equity and equality, violence against women, corporate social responsibility, and international development.

In 2013, Judit was awarded the Graduate Travel Award by Department of Gender Studies and participated in the United Nations Commission on the Status of Women (CSW57), New York City. She contributed to the success of one of the UN’s parallel events, “The South-South Exchange: Experiences, Lessons & Strategies for Eliminating All Forms of Violence against Women & Girls”. Judit is a member of the International Research Foundation for Development as well as the National Women’s Studies Association. She also serves on the Board of Albert Group Enterprise Inc.

Being committed to advancing the lives of women, Judit was giving pro-bono legal advice mostly to women in need. She has conducted several qualitative research projects on women’s issues including international human rights, gender discrimination, gender inequality, and domestic violence against women. Her current research is an exploration of the gender equality and women’s empowerment policies of select corporate documents of L’Oréal, the giant beauty company.

Her unique background as a legal professional and feminist researcher enables her to make a valuable contribution in the policy and research analyst capacity at the Provincial Advisory Council on the Status of Women NL.
